Stonecroft Director of Finance
Primary Position Responsibility: The Director of Finance provides strategic and hands-on leadership in executing Stonecroft’s accounting operations, annual budgets, cash flow forecasting, group finances, and auditing. This position is responsible for ensuring financial integrity, sustainability, and alignment with Stonecroft’s mission and values. This position requires travel at least 7 times a year.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Develop annual budgets in collaboration with the leadership team and monitor budget-to-actual results.
- Partners with the Leadership Team on financial strategy, controls, and policy development ensuring financial practices align with the organization's goals, values, and stewardship principles.
- Oversee daily accounting functions (Accounts Payable/Accounts Receivable, payroll, general ledger)
- Prepares, analyzes, and presents monthly/annual financial statements, ensuring adherence to GAAP and non-profit regulations.
- Lead annual audit, prepare form 990, ensure compliance with tax regulations and GAAP, and serve as primary liaison with external auditors.
- Track restricted funding, manage grant billing/drawdowns, and ensure compliance with donor requirements.
- Collaborates with the CEO and VP of Operations to create financial forecasts, variance analyses, and manage financial trends and risks in order to maintain long-term financial sustainability.
- Partners with CEO and Director of Development on financial narratives for foundation pitches and grant applications.
- Analyzes, prepares and presents financial forecasts and reports to the Finance Committee and Board of Directors.
- Serves as an active member of the leadership team and supporting staff goals, accountability and performance expectations.
- Works across departments to create group finance models and processes that support volunteers and are in the best interest of the organization.
- Supports the VP of Operations to coordinate investment accounts with 3rd party vendor.
- Maintains Stonecroft’s accounting policies and procedures for the Accounting Manual in collaboration with the VP of Operations.
- Provide direction and supervision of the accounting staff.
- Ability to map financial data to organizational goals.
Qualifications:
- A personal and growing relationship with the Lord Jesus Christ which is naturally communicated through words and actions.
- A personal passion for evangelism (the spiritual gift of evangelism is not required).
- Ability to work cross-functionally in teams.
- Minimum bachelor's degree in accounting or finance (CPA preferred).
- Minimum 7 years of experience with at least 2 years of senior accounting or financial management role in non-profit and donor accounting.
- Strong understanding of fund accounting, grant compliance, and non-profit tax regulations.
- Advanced experience in QuickBooks Online and Excel skills.
- Exceptional attention to detail in financial reporting.
- Strong writing and verbal communication skills.
- Knowledge of Microsoft Teams and suite of Microsoft applications.
- Working knowledge of Salesforce NPSP.
- Experience leading, managing, and developing a team towards results.
